How to wean your baby early

I get so many families asking me questions about early weaning and if it might help with sleep, reflux, weight gain, colic and more. I certainly think there is a place for some babies to wean onto solids early, often though it can cause more issues than it solves. I hope to put your mind at rest if early weaning might be beneficial, but also help you to feel confident to wait if early weaning isn’t the answer for your baby.

Why buy this course?

Health professionals can be quick to recommend early weaning as a solution for medical reasons, but then lack the knowledge to advice how to do this effectively and safely. Older relatives are quick to offer early weaning as a solution for sleeping or feeding issues, and their advice can be dated and unsafe. Unfortunately very few professionals are `trained in early weaning and so the advice is often vague and causes more harm than good.

In this course we are going to be discussing early weaning, starting prior to 5 months. I’m going to cover when I think it is good to wean early, when to avoid weaning early, how to effectively wean early and what the risks and benefits are.

About the course

MODULE ONE

Introduction: What is early weaning, what do the authorities advice, when did advice change and why. Reasons for early weaning including reflux CMPA and CMPI, failure to thrive, the 4 month sleep regression and other sleep issues. I will also cover feeding issues, pressure from relatives, disinterest in milk feeds and baby getting hungrier and showing early signs. We then talk about the risks, and benefits of early weaning.

MODULE TWO

Why would we consider weaning early. A little bit about allergies, the relationship between weaning early and reflux, poor weight gain as a reason for weaning early and other considerations.

BONUS MODULE

Deciding at what point to wean, how to delay early wenaing, some tips on managing reflux, CMPA, CMPI and poor feeding.
A little bit about sleep, overnigth feeds, daytime feeding adversion and calories. How to wean your baby early. What foods, timings, the best part of the day to start, types of foods and why, the importance of fats and calories why to avoid just vegetables. Foods to avoid. Watching for reactions, constipation, and separating milk and solids. Your routine on each meal (1,2 &3 meals).

Introducing Hannah Love

Hi I’m Hannah Love I’ve spent the last 25 years helping families with their babies and children.

In my twenties I completed three university courses - in Paediatric Nursing, Nutritional Therapy and Cranial Sacral Therapy, whilst travelling the world nannying for pro golfers. When nannying I was a huge part of every family I worked for- this is where I learnt to juggle family life.

In my thirties I raised my own 3 children (Oliver born in 2008, Ella in 2012 and Henry in 2015), built a house, and founded and grew the Yummy Baby business. We also put aside plenty of time for fun- as a family we love travelling, weekends away, festivals and our favourite camping trips!

Through Yummy Baby, and my newer venture, Sleep Well, With Hannah, I’ve brought together all of my experience and training to help hundreds of other families learn to juggle family life and, most importantly, sleep well.

I see myself as more than a sleep expert- my deep knowledge of babies and children is what makes families feel confident in my hands, and is what makes my programmes, talks and courses work.

Through my CALM (Consistent, Achievable, Loving and Manageable approach to parenting I not only teach parents how to manage their baby’s feeding, weaning, nutrition, behaviour and my most popular subject – sleep. I also teach families confidence in being a parent, juggling enjoying life with a baby. My greatest achievement is bringing many families out of dark, sleepless places to enjoying day to day life with their happy, sleeping baby.

I firmly believe that each family is individual and so is every baby – I’m not there to tell you how to raise your family, but to support you to find a solution if what you are doing isn’t working for you right now. My CALM, practical and effective approach has ensured that families recommend me all over the world and have come back for second and third babies (even before they are born!).

I am at my happiest when I am helping other families enjoy family life as much as I do. Together with my husband of over 15 years, Daryl, we are busy – but make time for lots of fun. All of our children went to their first festival, holiday and camping trip before their six month birthday. Another great passion is cooking food (and growing and eating it too!). I am happiest entertaining friends, with happy children running around our garden. In fact, there isn’t often a child (or adult) that has come to our busy house that doesn’t resist going home.
